50 miles for 50,000 kids meals

Inver Park to Old Trafford

Inspired by his Manchester United hero Marcus Rashford, Ben Dickinson is walking from Inver Park, Larne to Old Trafford, Manchester with the aim of raising money to provide 50,000 meals for kids through FareShare

Who am I?

My name is Ben Dickinson. I am 10 years old from Larne, Northern Ireland. I love football and I support Manchester United and Larne FC. I play football for Greenisland FC 2011s. I am a central defender and can also play right back or wing back for my team.

Back in March 2021, I raised over £7,200 for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice by running 26 miles in 26 days and had the amazing experience of being surprised by my hero and inspiration Marcus Rashford on Sky Sports News and running the last mile with the first team at Larne Football Club.

It was Marcus’ encouragement that spurred me on to launch my latest challenge – Ben’s Miles for Meals.

What is Ben’s Miles for Meals?

From 3rd – 12th March 2022, I am going to walk from Inver Park, home of Larne Football Club in Northern Ireland to Old Trafford, Manchester, via the Belfast to Birkenhead Stena Line ferry, to raise funds for Fareshare, a food poverty charity supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK.

For every £1 raised, Fareshare can provide 4 meals so I want to raise enough money to feed 50,000 people in Northern Ireland and through the rest of the UK.

Marcus Rashford is an ambassador for FareShare and was awarded and MBE from the Queen for his services to vulnerable children. All the great work he has done for the charity is what inspired me to take on this challenge, so I hope to present him with a cheque for my fundraising total when I arrive at Old Trafford on 11th March.

Please help me provide as many meals as possible for Fareshare by donating.

I want to say thank you to all who have been very kind and are supporting Ben’s Miles for Meals
